"The Maiden Blog"

From my title you should have all guessed that I have never blogged before, well here we go...If you don't recognize me, my name is Debbie Wallace and I head up the CPAP/BIPAP Supply Distribution Program here at TLC. I joined the TLC Team almost 6 years ago and have worked in several different areas of the company.
When I am not here @TLC I share my life with my dashingly handsome husband Gary (hiding behind his shades) and our gentle and sweet 90lb. boxer, Dakota. We reside in Fairview TN which is about 25 miles west of Franklin. When we are not working on our"Gardening Projects" we try and fit a few rounds of golf in here and there. I recently started dabbling around with photography, and have found it to be a great creative outlet. I actually have a few photos that are going up for sale by a friend who thinks they are actually marketable!

I recently received this e-mail from my sister in law and felt like it was something I would like to share with everyone. As a mother of a daughter with Down's Syndrome I was extremely touched by this video. My daughter Emily passed away several years ago and this video just reminded me of how much we do for our children regardless of who they are. Our love is unconditional and there is never a limit on how much we will do to help our children succeed.
Read the story first then watch the video.

This is a true story!

A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'. The
father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on to
complete the marathon together. Father and son went on to join other marathons,
the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race
together. One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman
together..' To which, his father said 'Yes' too.
For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race
encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim,
followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile
(42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island . Father and son
went on to complete the race together.
I was not able to post the video but please go to: http://www.godtube.com/ and scroll down to the featured video section. Go to the third video... My Redeemer lives-Team Hoyt...A Fathers Love for his son.

Deb, I have seen that video before and cry everytime, but this time it took on a new meaning. I am so blessed to have known Emily during her time here on earth. She always made me smile, she was always so bright, and hilarious. I remember as a little girl watching you take care of her and thinking Wow! That is an amazing mother. I know that now we have a much different relationship than we did when I was 7, but you will always be Rachael and Emily's mom to me. I always loved being at your house. Just so you know, and although I may not show it all the time here at work, I think you are pretty amazing.

Deb, This video gets me every time. It is so amazing. Speaking of amazing, you are too! You are always stepping up to the plate here at work and taking on a new task if needed. I remember when I first started working at TLC and it was me, you and Mary in the Franklin office *sniffle*! Good times! And by the way, ole Dakota is looking very dashing these days! (P.S. to everyone who may not know--I'm not an animal person)

Joey told me to read your blog and prepare to weep. I said, "I won't cry." I lied, I got pretty teary. That does a great job of summing up the love you have for a child. That Dad gave his all. I strive daily to give mine. Thanks for sharing it!
Wishing you blessings,
Courtney Lankford
