TEAM TLC ..... RACE FOR THE CURE

Hi everyone!

I was asked to send out an email encouraging you all to sign up for RACE FOR THE CURE! J I have participated in the Race for the Cure for a few years at UT in Knoxville and wanted to continue here in Nashville. So, I created a team, TEAM TLC, if anyone is interested in joining!

About the Race for the Cure® The Komen Nashville Race for the Cure raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship, and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 @ Downtown Nashville in Riverfront Park.

Why should you get involved? Over 211,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and nearly 40,000 will die this year. Susan G. Komen for the Cure is working to reduce those numbers both locally and globally and to make a difference in the lives of the women, and men, behind the numbers. Until there's a cure, we RACE!

The event is a 5k (about 3.1 miles) and by no means do you have to RUN it. It is completely acceptable to WALK!! I have always walked in the past. The event is in the morning and won’t take up your whole day!

There is a $30 registration fee. However, you receive a T-shirt and Race bib along with access to Race Day Events (live music, local business tents, etc). In Knoxville, there has always been free food and goodies before and after the Race. AND, the $30 is TAX DEDUCTIBLE J

You aren’t required to raise any money however; it would be awesome if you did!!

This team isn’t limited to just TLC employees. PLEASE feel free to invite your family and friends to join our team! Kids, too! (All children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult).

Okay, so now, HOW TO REGISTER/JOIN THE TEAM:
1. Click this link http://komennashville.kintera.org/faf/home/waiver.asp
2. Click the “I agree” for Photographic Release form
3. Click Join a Team
4. A drop box will appear, find Team TLC and click CONTINUE.
5. Fill in your personal information and create a username (this is so you can track how much money you have raised, or send emails to family and friends to ask them to join)
6. Select the type of participant you wish to be (most will be a General Participant, but feel free to select another one)
7. Select your shirt size and if you wish to donate more than the $30 fee.
8. Click continue.
9. Fill out your credit card information
10. That’s as far as I can take you without registering again…you’ll have to do the rest on your own…

We get a shirt for the Race, like I mentioned, but I am going to try to get shirts made that say TEAM TLC or something fun. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

I really hope this email didn’t bore you to death, but I’d love to see a big group participate! It’s fun and for a great cause. You’d be surprised by how many people you know that have been affected by breast cancer.
